Lum and Abner – Lum Performs Ceremony. 370813.
Grandpap enters the chapel to talk about Lum’s marital concern. Cedric comments on Lums slicked up appearance, and his impending wedding. Anticipation runs high as Evelina and Lum stand in the wings of the chapel. Abner and grandpap talk about superstitions, such as it being Friday the 13th.
The music begins as Lum stands on the platform with his best friend Abner. Now Lum worries over the topic of being Friday the 13th.
The wedding march is on as music fills the chapel. Lum officiates and waxes eloquent over Evelina, and her accomplishments in town as school teacher. She is marrying another of Lum’s friends in town. Irving Filmore “Spud” Gandal. The vows are pronounced, and the I do’s are said. Will anybody speak, or will they all hold their peace? After an extended, suspenseful moment Lum marries them off.
PS: As far as I know, this is the first show where a guest voice is added. Normally Chet Lauck and Norris Goff have done all the voices. Today, a female voice has the line in the wedding scene to voice Evelina’s, “I do.” Well, I guess there was also a guest voice in the 1933 Christmas episode as well.
