Horlicks: An aid to travellers that makes a light, sustaining, digestable meal. It prevents travel sicknes, and so convenient and easy to prepare.
Down in Pine Ridge, Lum thinks if he can make a hero of himself, he can get back in the good graces of the townsfolk. Tonight is the big night, and Lum sneaks into Abners bedroom to kidnap him, just as they arranged. Abner is too sleepy, and has second thoughts about the plan, but Lum has the motivation he needs to get Abner moving.
With all the racket they stir up, it makes you wonder if they will get caught before they get very far. Abner complains in loud voice, and wants Lum to carry him. Things aren’t working out the way Abner thought they might, and hasn’t got his shoes. When his feet are too cold and swollen to fit in his shoes, Lum has to carry him piggyback to his house.
Back home, the two get the chance to rest, and realize that they forgot to leave a ransom note. Lum writes it now, but can he manage it without giving away that he’s involved? How will he get it back to Abner’s house without being noticed, or waking Pearl and Lizabeth? Abner sheds a little light on how it can be done.
Horlicks: It promotes quick, sound sleep. Science has proved the benefits of Horlicks in recent lab tests. All it takes is a glass of Horlicks before bedtime.
