Down in Pine Ridge, Mr Donahue who has come to town to ask about the silver mine was really an agent from the Treasury department, and Lum has been arrested for breaking the Blue Sky Law.
At the jail, Abner comes to talk to Lum and gets confused over the saying about Tomorrow never coming. It all started when Lum mentioned having his bond set the next day. The confused conversation continues as Abner has trouble with the concept of time, and not putting things off. He thinks the world is ending, but generally thinks that Lum has lost his mind.
Abner changes his attitude, and in soft spoken words, asks Lum questions to test his sanity. Dick comes in to see what can be done in raising Lum’s bail money. Abner pulls Dick aside to tell him his concern about Lum’s mental state. Dick talks with Lum to see what’s going on.
When Dick hears the reason for Abner being upset over that figure of speech, he gets a kick out of it, but Abner just storms out.
