Lum and Abner – Abner Hides In The Barn. 350902. Horlicks: Carlton Bricker shares a little of how William Horlick developed his product nearly 50 years previously. The one outstanding leader of the malted milk field.
Down in Pine Ridge the enraged stockholders want to take extreme action against Squire and Lum, the owner and president of the silver mine that they hold stock in. Abner warned Lum, and he has been in hiding.
Today Abner brings Lum a dinner from Lizabeth. They talk about the latest news and happenings in town. Abner seems to think the tempers will settle down in a few days.
Abner gets confused over one of Lum’s sayings about being here today and gone tomorrow. He then reviews why the townsfolk were so upset over the silver mine, and Squire’s shady dealings to take them for all their money.
Lum has a plan to blow smoke and keep the town from learning where he is. Letters are written, which Lum reads, that are to be sent from anonymous locations although he’s really hiding out in Abner’s barn. Though Abner is a little confused, he tries to point out something that Lum is overlooking. The stress has Lum a little forgetful.
Horlick testimonial: A woman tells how she gave up her heavier meal for the Horlick plan, and lost weight.
PS: The title is the way it appears in most archives and listings, although it’s really Lum who is in hiding.
