Phil wants to take a real man’s vacation, but at the last minute Alice wants to tag along with him. Her romantic ideas are burst when she finds out that Remley is going along. She wants to go to Palm Springs, but the guys wanted to enjoy a trip to the great outdoors, and do some camping, fishing, and hunting.
Willie interupts just when Phil and Alice are about to do some kissing. How disgusting. At least to Willie.
Willie has been invited by Alice to go on vacation as well, and he has his own ideas as to how to spend the vacation. When Remley shows up with some vacation plans of his own, which is just a little different from Phil’s. The 4 adults argue like kids over where to go. As they set out, Phil finds a parking ticket, and he has to report in court the next day. Alice sings, Buttons and Bows.
To keep from ruining the trip, Phil and Remley go to City Hall to take care of the ticket. He finds out that this is boy’s week, and Julius has been made mayor. Julius is in a particularly surly mood, and takes full advantage of his position by suspending Phil’s license. Remley sees his chance to be the driver and go on his dream vacation place, until Julius revokes his license as well. Julius even tries to revoke Phil’s marriage license, but I don’t think it works that way.
Phil sings, Elmer and the Bear.
With licenses revoked, it’s up to Alice to drive, and the gang start off for Palm Springs. It doesn’t take long before she crashes the car, and she faces being taken into police custody. Phil is faced with joining her, but takes advantage of that revoked marriage license to abandon her to her fate in jail alone.
