They discuss the Silver mine dividends, and about the lagtime between buying their stock, and the time it takes for the cash to roll in. In fact, nobody seems to be making any money in the situation except Squire.
Dick Huttleston pops in to join the conversation. He shares a little about his investigating the situation behind the silver mine. Dick has been suspicious over the car the man drove who was supposed to be buying the mine from Squire. Lum thinks the investigation is unnecessary, but Dick just wants to make sure things aren’t just a big scam.
Abner visits to say that he had to fire his driver, so his car is parked at home. Lum thinks Abner wrecked his car, but it’s really because Abner spent through all his money, and had to make cut backs. The humbled Abner approaches Lum about finding work. They both decide to be partners again, and plan to see if they can buy back the Jottem Down store.
