Phil comes home with bad news, and Willie makes the assumption that Phil has been fired. Instead, he has been told by the sponsor that the worst of his band members need to be fired, and Frankie is one of them. Willie offers to help by writing the dismissal notices.
In rehearsal Phil tries to break the bad news. The band has some misunderstandings, but it transitions into Alice singing, Down Upon the Shadowy Pond.
The hardest part for Phil is facing up to his old friend Frankie. Frankie is in denial over being sacked. Alice has the idea that if enough fans write in, the flood of letters might sway Mr Scot’s decision. The arguement between Phil and Frankie leads to Phil singing, the Jabberwocky Bird.
Frankie and Phil go on a door to door campaign to drum up support for Frankie. Amos and Andy make a cameo appearance. Their quest ends up with Julius. What can Julius do to help? It will only take a few dollars of convincing, but will the money win out over the grudge that Julius holds for his mistreatment on shows over the past few weeks?
In Mr Scot’s office, Julius poses as the president of a fan club, but will his enthusiasm be the thing it takes to seal Frankie’s fate? It sure will, but probably not the way Franke and Phil wanted it to go. Poor little unemployed frankie, what will become of him?
