Down in Pine Ridge, Abner had been regretting his decision to be left in full charge of the Jottem Down Store. He talks with Grandpap about his disappointment. Abner is so upset that he kicks grandpap out of his store, or is about to when he learns that grandpap has a big grocery shopping list to fill.
Abner gets a kick out of some of grandpap’s news that all isn’t so rosy at the movie theater. Lum has to deal with the disgruntled Mose Moose. Abner is still boycotting the movie house, so grandpap fills him in a little about the latest feature.
When Lum stops in, Abner is afraid, and hides. Lum’s conscience has been bothering him, and he wants to apologize to Abner. Both friends are so apologetic, that they argue over who is more sorry. Will the friends become partners again? Have they made up, or not?
Suddenly, bad news comes over the party line, the movie theater is burning down.
