Down in Pine Ridge, the Planetarium movie theater opened with grand success over the weekend. Now Lum and Abner talk about their grand opening, and all the folks who attended. Their talking over their success is interupted by a phone call from a satisfied movie goer.
They discuss how often they ought to change up the films they show. Squire has already changed his. The competition may be a pain, but it sure keeps the rivals hopping, and customers with plenty of variety.
Squire pops in for a visit to talk shop about the movie business. He soon lets Lum know what he came over for. Squire wants to arrange a deal to send his over flow customers to Lum and Abner, but he’s trying to force them to take less of a profit. Besides, he did grandpap dirty and broke his contract to hire him.
Lum decides to put together his own advertising plan, but before he can, Abner discovers something. Abner manages to uncover a law that makes Squire’s theater a fire hazard.
