Today, Lum is at the county seat to see what can be done to ship the hogs back. Abner and Grandpap talk about the expense of the shipping charges. Dick Huttleston arrives to join the conversation. He explains the chain letter is illegal to send, but it is OK to keep the hogs. As Dick leaves, he drops off a letter for Grandpap. It’s a chain letter from his son.
Lum returns with the bad news that the flood of hogs and corn just keep coming. But Abner shares his good news that Dick says it’s OK to keep them. What a load off Lums mind.
