Carlton Bricker reminds listeners of 1935 to send in for their promotional flashlight.
Down in the empty store, Lum and Abner talk about the trouble they are in over Abner’s fake broken arms, and the insurance claim his wife, Lizabeth made for them. He stands to be found out for insurance fraud. The web of lies that began with Lum’s idea of sending out Abner’s picture to all their female Matrimonial Bureau clients has grown out of proportion.
Dick brings the mail, and it gives the chance for Lum and Abner to remind friends who write in for the flashlights to also vote for one for president of the store when it opens. Abner is tickled to see that people are voting for him.
When Lum gets jealous, he can’t take it anymore. Especially when he finds out that Abner’s votes are out of pity for his arms. Lum gets on the party line to spill the beans about Abner’s fake broken arms.
Once Lizabeth finds out, she returns the party line call with the phone lines aflame.
Carlton Bricker once again gives all the details to receive a flashlight.
Note: I don’t have any flashlights. The promo has been over for over 70 years. Sorry. However! If you still feel the need, you can still send in a $1 donation to the Retro Radio Podcast. Considering inflation since 1935, that’s still a puny amount. Look for my snail mail address at the bottom of any of the web pages.
Clicking the PayPal button takes you directly to their web page, where you can transact your donation on a safe, and secure connection. Once on PayPal, just enter your desired amount, and click through the pages. Just a dollar would be nice, but why limit yourself?
