Great Gildersleeve – Looks For A Job. ep39, 441015

Gildy shows off his new mouse trap, invented by his pal Fibber McGee. Birdie and Leroy weigh in on how well they think it might work. At the breakfast table, Marjorie suggests a job as a floorwalker, until Gildersleeve can get his factory in production. Other, higher class job ideas are batted around, but a phone call may offer something more practical for the great man. Judge Hooker thinks a job might be forthcoming with local factory owner, Humpstone. At a press conference about the new plastic mouse trap, Gildy tells about the innovations. There’s at least one problem to work out with the new, edible plastic.

In Floyd’s barbershop, the judge isn’t willing to forgive Gildy for gruff words had earlier. Might Floyd be able to introduce Gildy to Humpstone instead? For claiming to not be talkative, the talkative barber shares exactly how well he knows the factory mogul. Possibly Peavey knows Humpstone better? Despite the good write up in the paper about the new factory Gildy plans, his immediate need is for a job.

Leila has been brushed off earlier, but at Peavey’s she won’t take no for an answer. It helps when she claims to know Humpstone. At her house later, the meeting of the two big men about town butter each other up. Things are looking good. But Humpstone shares his real motive behind inquiring into Gildy’s mouse traps.
