Jack Benny – Gunga Din. ep336, 390514

Bringing you that little old lady of a host for Mother’s day, it’s Jack Benny. Jokes about keeping a clean house, and Jack needing help across the street are the theme of the jokes. Aren’t the rest of the cast as sentimental about sending gifts to their mothers? Will Kenny get the hint of the special day today is? After a commercial from Don to remind him, Kenny Baker sings, For My Mother.

The play is announced, and based on the hit film, Gunga Din.
Amid interruptions from Phil’s band, Jack is to be the lad who saves his regiment. The funny scene is set, and Phil plays some mood music to transition… right after a phone call from Rochester. Carmichael the polar bear is giving him grief again, despite the house training Jack has given him. Phil plays, Hindistan.

Mary reads the voiceover narrative, as we find Gunga at home with his family of fakir’s. Look out for the pet crocodile. What’s for breakfast? Ground glass? How about a nice sword to swallow? Taking his bugle, Gunga goes to join his regiment. The jive talking Phil gives orders to get the jump on the jitterbugging hep cat enemy. The blistering sand takes its toll, and Gunga is desperate for water. Stay tuned next week to see what becomes of our heroes.
