Jack Benny – Buck Benny Rides Again Part 2. 370221

Waukegan’s gift to the acting world enters, and the cast comment on Jack’s appearance on Lux Radio Theater last Monday. He and Mary performed in Brewster’s Millions where Jack played a part where he had to give away large amounts of money. Mary lets the acting bug go to her head, but will it be infectious? Kenny sings, When My Dreamboat Comes Home.

Mary tells about an upcoming trip bavck East, and gets the focus of jokes from the cast. Jack manages a feew jabs at Fred Allen. Phil Harris plays, Ain’t Got Rhythm.

Jack wants to present a sophisticated drama, but the sponsor phones in with other ideas. Instead we are treated with another installment of Buck Benny.

Phil plays some traveling music, and the play begins. Buck Benny is at home, sleeping in to the crow of his rooster. Where’s the snooze button on one of those things? I don’t know, but it’s mighty rough on the rooster. Nobody knows where Cactus Face is, so Buck has a look around the establishments in town. Whiskey stills, and vacations, take over as the focus of jokes.

Note: In her snootiness over her acting abilities, Mary makes a comment about, “You silly Americans.” It makes sense when you realize that she’s actually from Canada, not Plainfield New Jersey as is often claimed on the show. Jack is teased about falling off his horse. He really wasn’t good with horses, and sometimes had trouble on the movie set in his Buck Benny film.
