Rush tells Vic about a phone call where he took notes. It was a long distance call where an aquaintence of Vic’s from Oregon wanted him to take a trip to Maine to meet some men. Apparently Vic’s fame has reached the men from Maine, and they are eager to meet Vic. Why? How did they hear about Vic? Are they in the lodge? Do they work for Vic’s company? How did a friend in Oregon come across these five men from across the country? Sade enters with a bit of her own gossip, and is just as baffled at the mystery. She just doesn’t want Vic to make a trip, while Rush gets dramatic in thinking it could be some sort of ambush to rob Vic.
Jimbo Mason has this to addP:
The men from Maine mystery is never solved (at least in this or other surviving episodes.) One guess is that the five men from Maine are book publishers and would like Vic to write a book – possibly about parade ingenuity – but that’s only a guess.
McDancey, who has written at least one book and a is fellow member of the Sacred Stars of the Milky Way All-Star Marching Team, may have told his own publishers about Vic’s prowess as both a writer and as a parade enthusiast. Of course, that’s only a shot in the dark but we have so few facts to work with that almost anything is a possibility.
