A telephone call from Lou finds Doc Adams making a shopping list to replenish the kitchen pantry. Such an easy task, it almost doesn’t require the need to write it all down. With the list locked away into memory, Doc heads to the store.
In the store, and very much out of his element, the shortcomings of Doc’s list, and memory soon become apparent. Has he remembered everything? Pretty much. Has he remembered how much Lou needs? Let’s just say that his idea of how big packages are, and how things are sold are out of line from the practiced housewife.
Dunc, the boy who doc helped work past his reform school days, and get the delivery boy job in the store talks candidly with doc, and further distracts and delays him. As wise as doc can be on some matters, he’s about to be put in his place by his wife. He arrived home late, dinner is cold, and what about the size of that grocery order? Who does he think Lou is going to feed? An army?
