Today George follows up on a letter that deals with a once powerful man who has landed on skid row. George and Brooksie go to interview the man, but encounter a murder instead. The cops lay out the facts that they have, but George is insistant on finding a washed up movie star that the dead man wrote to him about. It seems to be a matter of finding a needle in a haystack, but George has a plan to draw the needle out to him.

George and Brooksie take tickets at a movie theater and size up the clientelle. As the silent film revival begins, will the old time movie star be in the audience? Even if she is, can George find her? Can he prevent her from becoming another murder victim in this mystery?

George helps her get into hiding, but the real question is who is behind the killings, and why do they want her dead? As George takes his case to the cops, the details of the yet unsolved story are hashed out. When the killer turns to sabotaging George’s car, he manages to turn up some clues from a fan of the old movie star.

Suddenly the clues start coming in like an avalanche for George. He has a plan, and sets up a dramatic confrontation to tap the killer, and bring the mystery to light. The old actress gets the chance to prove she still has a spark of her old tallent in her.
