When a miner has died, he left all claims to his mine and wealth to his blind partner. The man was blinded 4 years ago, and the deceased Jim stayed with his friend, feeling guilt for the accident that robbed the eyesight. Now who will take care of the blind man? His only friend is a dog that he acquired 4 years ago, when he was first blinded. He certainly can afford to hire a caretaker if he wants one.
Though a pair of swindlers move in, the man’s faithful dog proves to be more than a trained guide, and doesn’t like the new men who have come calling. Will they be able to take Rex out of the picture?
Admitting to kidnapping the dog, they hold the critter for ransom. Will the miner give up $10k in gold to get his eyes, and one true friend back? Will the greedy swindlers settle for that, or want more?
Sgt Preston rides into the picture, but the behavior of the old miner raises some flags for him. Will he figure out what’s going on, and see through the real trouble at hand? King plays a part in rescuing Rex, and saving the day.
