She isn’t too keen on the idea, but Mr Anderson suggests the idea of going ahead with an elopement.
Dennis goes to city hall to get a copy of his birth certificate where Sidney Sheldon is the clerk. To Dennis surprise, the records show that he just died. The worried Dennis rushes back home to share his wierd, and unsettling news of his demise with Mildred. The couple go to the Mayor to iron out the clerical error.
Meanwhile back at the Anderson home, Mr Anderson is smug over his aledged secret of the elopement, but get ready for more misunderstandings. Mildred gets home, and reassures mom that she isn’t married, but is sent to her room. When mom phones city hall, she gets the news that Dennis is dead. Now as both parents mourn over the false news, Dennis gets home, and reveals the true story of what happened with the paperwork error. Since Mrs Anderson had just left the room, Mr Anderson sees a chance to play a prank on his wife.
Dennis the ghost has a few moments of fun before the deception is discovered, and Mrs Anderson threatens to return him to his status as ghost.
