Burns and Allen – Gracie Reads Frank Parkers Telegram. 381007.

George and Gracie begin to tell about their restful trip to New York, and the sites that Gracie has seen. The fun is interupted when Gracie gets nosy, and reads a telegram that was delivered for Frank Parker. Through the show Ray Noble interupts to share his latest joke, in his attempt to add more to the show than just playing music.

Just what was in the telegram? When Frank finally gets it, he plays it off as though it were from an adoring female fan. Frank sings, You Go to My Head.

Gracie gets a phone call from her mom, who tells the latest from home, and that Gracie’s uncle has a problem with his legs. It takes a long and involved spell of jokes and distractions before George learns just how serious the medical trouble with the legs is.

Ray Noble plays, Cheek to Cheek.

After a few more random jokes from the interaction between Gracie, George, Ray, and Frank, Gracie sings a tune. When a Prince of a Fella Meets a Cinderella.

George and Gracie transition to announcer, Paul Douglas, who delivers the sponsor message. Or at least he tries to if Gracie will stop interupting. With more time left, Frank meets up with his date, Mary Kelley. The large character actress often appeared on the Jack Benny show, as well as this one and others.

Trivia Alert: Mary had been a former roommate of Gracie’s back in the vaudeville days, and Jack Benny’s girlfriend before he dated Sadie Marx (later known as Mary Livingston).
