In his capacity as bellhop, Abner has been mixing with the guests, and has news about the gang activity in the hotel. He figures it would be a shame to turn the guests in to the law, especially since they tip him so well. Lum drops subtle hints designed to make Abner feel in poor health, and in need of quitting his bellhop kjob, even though he has already claimed he feels better than ever after running all the errands for the guests.
Lum becomes the hero, and sacrifices himself as manager to switch jobs with Abner. What a buddy! What a pal! What a way to make a few tips for himself!
Dick Huddleston arrives to hear the latest suspicions. It doesn’t take Abner long though, to return with his first action as hotel manager.
