Sade enjoys the weather on the back porch as Vic comes home. She has a letter from her sister Bess, and gives it to Vic to read. Russell arrives home, offering a distraction for Vic in telling about Bluetooth Johnson finding money, having an itchy knee, and other trivial details.
Vic reads the letter to himself, claiming he read it all, but Sade doesn’t believe he did more than skim through the news. Russell takes over to read the letter, out loud this time. He makes a mistake and reads Bess’s interjection of “ha ha” as “ham ham”. Can her handwriting be so poor? As the news in the letter, more instances of “ham ham” appear, but Sade gets the twinges at Russell’s disrespect.
Vic takes over the letter reading. Will there be more instances of “ham ham”? How many times will the letter be read from the beginning? When Sade storms off to go into the house, Vic and Russell decide to keep their distance for a while. Hell hath no fury like Sade wen she’s scorned.
PS: Sade is in a mellow mood from the start. Even though she enjoys writing and receiving letters from her sister, Bess, the guys never can get excited over the ritual. I think Sade already knows how this is going to turn out, but being true to her nature, she has to at least try to get Vic and Russsel involved.
You’d think she would just stop trying. But then you’d think Vic and Russelll could just fake her excitement for once. And not in a silly way as they’ve done in the past.
