The theme of recent shows deal with Gildersleeves investment in Adeline’s very successful hat shop. With Leroy’s help, he does some redecoration in the hat shop. Leroy relaxes by heading off to the movies, while Gildy and Adeline go through the day’s mail. A letter from Adeline’s cousin, Leila Ransom announces that she is coming back.
Nobody has told Leila about the hat shop, or the modifications to her house. What will she have to say about the changes done in her cozy house? Should someone write Leila to give her a forewarning? Gildy thinks it’s a job for judge Hooker to handle. No worries, right?
Marjorie and Leroy share some of their concerns, and are afraid the hat shop will close. Even Birdie is upset enough to cause worry to arise with Gildersleeves. Will Leila be compliant, or will that hot Southern blood boil over? Judge Hooker has news for the impatient Gildersleeves. Leilas telegram doesn’t sound promising so Gildy stops in to chat with Peavey.
Encouraged by Peavey’s advice, Gildy looks forward to intercepting Leila, and having a man to man talk with her. Will Gildy’s buttering up work on Leila? When Adeline catches Gildy in a tender moment with Leila, the fur flies. Maybe he should have done his buttering up with Parkay.
