We find Doctor Hall and Vicky in the final moves of a raging chess game. Either she has the best run of beginner’s luck, or Vicky isn’t telling all she knows about the game. Their fun is interupted by a knock at the door. It’s the wife of one of the professors, and she’s worried that her husband may be running around with another woman. Can Doc Hall help?
As the Halls get geared up for their roles as detective, and faithful girl sidekick, Toddy waxes sentimental and takes us on a flashback. We learn a few more moments in the romantic saga of the courtship of Vicky and Toddy. The reverie is broken when Doc Hall has arrived at the house where Professor Gerhardt was seen visiting.
Is there a woman who he is calling on? Will there be a scandal on the cozy little campus? There is indeed a girl who is being visited, but it turns out to be with more of a spirit of charity than of a clandestine nature. It also gives Ronald and Bonita Coleman the chance to ask for support to help the March of Dimes as they close the show.
