Jumping the gun on his accelerated education, Cedric has quit his defense plant job. He may be facing the draft. For now the gents watch the happy scholars on their way to school. Are they so happy because of their new school board president? Not if you ask Lum.
Lum is worried the young-uns are growing up differently, in a money mad society. He’s even more taken aback when his new ward, Mary wants to change her name already. What? She wants to get married? Well at least to change it so she can sit closer to a boy. Alphabetical seating arrangements you know.
Cedric the high school boy enters. He just finished his testing for the Armed Services, and is pleased with his high standing at being a liability to any of the services, and his 4F rating. Is this something his dad can fix for him as well?
There’s another problem that Caleb might fix. However, Cedric has it under control. He can’t wait to phone Mary to tell her about a problem that his dad can’t fix, but he can, and already did.2017-08-17
A radio production crew work on perfecting a murder scene. What’s wrong with the ending? The scipt has been hacked down, and the disgruntled writer is out to write the perfect murder scene if he has to kill somebody to do it. With his final script done, he calls the crew together for a read through. Mr Avery, Lois, and sound affect tools are lined up.
The writer, Mr Turner, describes in voiceover, the scene setting in his office. Has Lois ever had a close brush with death before? Her account seems to excite and interest Mr Turner. He spills out his plan, and feelings about being crushed as a creative writer, but will Lois be able to detect that his words are more than hypothetical?
The climactic moment arrives when Mr Avery enters. Is the fate of Lois sealed along with her father? Even facing his dead, Avery is still the editor, suggesting a twist to the ending. There’s a struggle, a gunshot, and… the twist ending.

To get away from work, Fibber plans on going to the Elk’s club. Finding uncle Sycamore’s pistol, Fibber wants to take it to be repaired. The cops come knocking, but is Fibber jumping to conclusions regarding bad news? They’re just selling tickets to the ball, but soon take an interest in uncle Sycamore’s pistol. Mr Wellington pops in with word from the fire department. The nosey cops proceed to go through the McGee’s valuables until Harlowe Wilcox arrives to pitch the sponsor.
The gruff, nosy, and unlikeable cops try to force Fibber to open his closet, then The Kingsmen sing, Old Dan Tucker.
Usually eager to bicker with Fibber, even Doc Gamble seems to take sides against the cops. Will they sell any tickets? Will Hogan obey Molly’s command to stop wearing his hat indoors? Will they ever get Fibbers closet open? Beulah saves the day when the truth about the cops comes out.2017-08-17
Wonderful world! The son of the new school board president arrives in the Jot Em Down store this morning. He’s thrilled to bee going back to school, but will his dad be able to pull strings to get Cedric into high school? This could be his ticket to more advanced education, maybe even in going on to be a doctor.
Cedric looks forward to playing high school sports, but he’ll have to maintain passing grades. Caleb will have to do wonders if he can pull it off, and fix it for him. Lum is sure he’s a first hand witness to the decline of the human race.
On top of everything else, Cedric is looking forward to being in the school play, in a sorority… what ever one of those are, but he’s certain his poppa will fix it for him. He has even left his good paying defense job in anticipation of a rejuvenated school career. Will he be able to be a cheer leader at the same time he’s on the football field? A phone call from Tom Foster at the draft board could rearrange Cedric’s education dreams.2017-08-16
A truck driver, and a female mail carrier are paired together. John isn’t in a place long enough to be married, and Diane tells about her boyfriend. Groucho learns what a tripper does at her insurance company. Besides delivering mail, she slips out the secret word. The couple pick the topic, Name the Song, To try to build their $20 as high as they can.
A door to door salesman is teamed up with a housewife. She tells Groucho how she met her husband at a Halloween dance. Mr Santos talks about his most popular item. Groucho learns about the 400 items in his sales truck, and little of his sale pitch. . They pick the topic of, Motion Picture Trademarks, To try to out do the other couples.
A masseuse and a wine maker team up. Groucho learns about the massage work in a steam bath. The Italian man talks about wine, and Italy in the back and forth conversation.
They pick the topic of, Major Cities of the World, To try to build their $20 higher than the competition.

Sade busies herself in house work, but is held back by Russell, and his lack of interest in dusting. Vic enters with more distractions He’s excited to share that the Kitchenware Quarterly wants to feature him with a picture in an article.
Sade has to stop to help Vic find a snapshot of him to submit.
Without Sade on hand to crack the whip, Russell begins to lay down on the job. Her frustration level increases when Vic wants to hurry her up to help him on his quest for the perfect photo to submit. Will he find an image that’s dignified and suitable? Will Sades distractions on her time ever end?2017-08-16
Without the usual opening formalities, we get right to the story. It’s one of an old king with three sons, and they each face a challenge to see which one will be worthy to take over the kingdom. With help from a talking white cat, Kenneth is given magical charms to finish his ordeal. After a year of their travels, all the brothers return to show off their treasures. Kenneth wins, but he’s too humble to accept the kingship.
More challenges are done to give his brothers a shot at the throne. Each round of the challenge lasts a year, and more items are added to their list of goodies to retrieve. Being an AFRS presentation, a musical interlude is inserted in the middle of the show.
Back to the story. Again, Kenneth wins the contest with his magical charm that has been given him, but he doesn’t want to rule the kingdom. There’s still one last challenge, to find a girl to marry, and help in ruling the kingdom. When the year is up, the brothers return with brides, but all Kenneth returns with is his white cat. Imagine everyone’s surprise over a talking cat! But wait for her strange and tragic request. Happy surprises await for all.

Philip Marlowe takes a case of a young man who has trouble with a serious car crash. All he has is a phone number to go on. Working with a reporter friend, Marlowe gets fuel for his investigation. The action heats up, guns come out, but Marlowe won’t let off the pressure.
Philip pokes around until a nerve is touched, secrets come out, but it gets Marlowe in a tight spot with a big thug. Can Philip get free and rescue the missing Julia? Even if he does, will she be free from the dark tunnel that fate has placed her in?
