Burns and Allen – Gracie’s Triumphant Return. 400313 (RV42, retro600)

Note: As usual for a dip into the Retro Radio Vault, our old Retrobots give old contact info,

Featuring: the Ray Noble Orchestra, Vocalist: Frank Parker, Announcer: Truman Bradley,

Returning from a woman’s rally in Washington DC, Gracie tells about her trip. If Gracie is elected, what will George do with his career? What about the details of the banquet she attended? Her speech? Her flight? Who did she meet, and what sights did she see? As George tries to keep the conversation sane, the cast feed Gracie’s wackiness.

Frank Parker sings, Summer Nights. Gracie continues to tell about the people she met, and her speech, leading into a flashback to relive the moment. Her modesty prevents her from talking about politics, clothes, or even men… OK, a little about men. She gives credit to past wives of presidents, and decries the man’s world that hampers women from being empowered. Are there areas where women are at fault in letting men take charge? Back in the studio, Ray Noble and His Americans play a swinging dance number.

George Burns and Gracie AllenAs Gracie disappears to take a phone call, the guys discuss their new appointments in government that Gracie promised them. Gracie announces her next stop on the campaign trail is Omaha. Her friend, Bubbles appears to join the jokes. The cast all get ready for the Omaha trip, including Gracie’s kangaroo, the mascot for hher Surprise party. To close, Gracie sings her campaign song, Vote for Gracie!
