Though Cedric is going about his new school career in a happy go lucky way, Lum is sure the school will collapse under the leadership of its new school board president. After the board meeting, Lum enters with complaints. Caleb wants professor Sloan to give special consideration and aid to Cedric, but Lum thinks the lad ought to be a self made man like he is.
Abner gets confused over being self made, and being able to pull up by Lum’s own boot straps. Maybe if someone didn’t weigh much, they could be supported by their bootstraps. Or if they were shorter, they wouldn’t have so far to lift.
Abner can’t wait to show this trick to grandpap. His eyes would bug out like a tromped on toad frog. Come on Lum, tell Abner the secret so he can do it too. Can Lum explain himself, or has Abner dug too far into the hole of his imagination?
Cedric enters to tell how doc Miller prescribed him vitamin tablets to pick himself up… hey, reckon that’s how Abner should do it?
