Lum and Abner – Lum And Abner Mind The Jail For Uncle Henry. 430819

Still laid up with poison oak, and realizing the power he has over Lum and Abner, the town constable asks the gents to watch the jail. This shouldn’t be too difficult. There’s no prisoners.

As the gents complain about uncle Henry, they clean up, and answer a phone call. Uncle Henry is making sure they do what they’re told. How much should the gents tell Cedric about Mary’s parole when he enters? Cedric needs to pay a fine, but Abner doesn’t want to take it.

Should he protest the fine, and take the matter to court? Justice of the Peace Lum holds court on the spot. He tells how he isn’t guilty of the traffic violation. He’s sure he honked his horn to warn of his presence on the road. Except, he couldn’t hear it due to the cut out he has on his car. The trouble is Lum finds a law that requires a higher fine for having a cut out. It gets worse as Cedric tells why he had the cut out. The fine is boosted higher, then higher again. His $1 fine goes over $100, and ends up with time in jail.
