Abner still frets that his old hound dog will be drafted, but attends the Golden Era Discussion Club. It’s the first one Mousey Gray has attended since the club formed after he went into the Army. The gents are all gathered, and Abner wants to show off how smart Blue is.
Can the gents convince Abner that Blue won’t be taken? Stubborn as a blue nosed mule, Abner brings in hs hound. Lizabeth won’t mind having the dog in her house, and on her furniture… will she? It ought to be OK under the circumstances.
The guest of honor, Mousey is recognized as the meeting is called to order. As Mousey gives his speech, grandpap takes a phone call from Gussey that sends Mousey home to his wife. Will Abner be given the chance to put Blue in the spotlight, and show off how smart he is? Does he compare to a smart dog that grandpap knows about? At least Blue is smart enough to flee once Lizabeth returns home.
