Fibber McGee and Molly – Putting Up the Porch Swing. ep408, 440613

Handy man Fibber keeps breaking hack saw blades as he puts up the porch swing. As Molly keeps his tongue tamed, Mr Wellington pops in on the way to the bank. He gets teased about his Panama hat. Molly goes to check on dinner, and Teeny arrives to see what Fibber is working on. Billy Mills plays, Besa Me Mucho.

Fibber adds wood slats to the swing, made from pickets from the fence. Alice Darling enters to tell about memories of her swing back home, and dating a Merchant Marine… or is that a Marine merchant? With each visit, Fibber has yet another tool swiped from his tool kit. He gets confused over words with Molly, then Harlowe Wilcox visits for the sponsor message… and to take a borrowed hammer.

Doc Gamble pops in to gripe at Fibber as he puts up the swing. Will the sedentary medicine man get a few words back from Fibber? The gents manage to work together long enough to clash with the hall closet. The Kingsmen sing, She Broke My heart in Three Places.

The swing is up… mostly… but Molly has a tip to finish the job. Beulah is called on to help with a squeaky swing chain. An extra pitch is given to buy more war bonds to support the troops, and Fibber tries his hand on his old mandolin.
