To take his mind off art, Lum is to take Mable Melrose to the foot hills to do some bird watching. Can Lum convince Abner to hide in the bushes to make bird calls? Lum plans to impress Mable by identifying birds that Abner calls out.
A box of birds are to be staged around for Lum to point out. Mable soon appears, and Lum’s adventure in nature begins. Much the free spirit, Mable is eager to hear the strange birds of Pine Ridge. Abner chirps and whistles, and Lum consults his bird book.
For a smart bird man like Lum, the identification of birds is no problem at all. Braving the wild brush, will Lum further impress Mable by bringing her the rare and exotic birds?
