Great Gildersleeve – Campaign Gets Hot. ep125, 440507

Relaxing in his office, Gildy puts up his feet and read love letters from his fiancee, Eve Goodwin. In voiceover, we hear the sweet nothings from Eve. His day dreams crash to a halt when sounds of his rival’s brass band speech breaks through his open window. Bessie, his secretary, and Judge Hooker contribute to burst the bubble of love. How is Gildy’s campaigning going? Is he getting the word out to promote himself?

At home, Marjorie and Leroy have their own sibling conflicts. A radio program shares a message from Gildy’s rival. What does he stand for? Calling on his campaign manager, Judge Hooker, Gildy wants equal time on the radio to respond to the mudslinging.

Gildy thinks he’s been betrayed when he spots a poster for Tewilliger in Peavey’s drugstore window. But of course, Peavey wouldn’t say that. Both candidates are his customers. Will Gildy see the issue from all sides, or only his? Later, Eve Goodwin and the family show their support for the radio speech. Will a card trick help with the tension? Will Gildy stoop to slinging the mud right back?

In the studio, Gildy is coached on sound checks. Will the radio station manager get Gildy to soften the language in his speech? The big moment comes, and Gildy demands to play by his own rules.
