Halls Of Ivy – Traffic And Cocoanuts. ep16, 500421.

Spring may be in full swing, but Doc Hall finds himself with a bout of the common cold. Will the ailment keep Toddy away from a meeting with the dreaded Mr Merryweather? As delicately as he canm the faculty member shares some of his middle aged second childhood, and his admiration for Vicky’s performance at the recent tallent show. She even sings a round of that novelty classic, I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts.

Toddy doesn’t seem to be jealous of Merryweather’s expressed affections toward his wife. Instead, he goes into flashback mode to reveal a few more moments in the continuing saga of the courtship of Vicky and Toddy. The audio gets a little poor through these parts, but clears up before Doc Hall returns to the real world, mostly.

Though Vicky is a popular cutie with campus people, and townsfolk alike, Toddy owns the only key to her heart… right? Maybe he ought to take the key to her car as well, since she reveals the details of her fender bender downtown. Will this be a character flaw that drags down the high reputation of the good Doc Hall? Despite any flaws, or maybe because of them, the Halls have a goofy making up at the end.

Note: Merryweather may sound familiar. It’s Willard Waterman, a character actor of many old radio shows, and maybe most notably known as the replacement Throckmorton P Gildersleeve, when Harold Peary left that show for his search of greener pastures.
