Fibber McGee and Molly – 440314Mcgee’s Hire Beulah One Day a Week. ep395,

It’s official, the McGee’s have hired Beulah to work, and off the microphone the maid is busy whipping the place into shape. A phone call to invite Doc Gamble to dinner is temporarily routed to Mirt the phone operator. Her pretty sister has some new happenings. Fibber and Molly get confused over a word, then Alice Darling pops in. Does she have marriage plans? Beulah pops into the scene with a bit of confusion over a calendar… er… collandar. Billy Mills plays, I Love You.

The McGee’s discuss Chinese food, then Mr Wellington enters to add to the word play. Confusion over carriages, bearings, and more. As the McGee’s discuss Wellington’s poor card playing, he leaves to be replaced by Harlowe Wilcox and the commercial. Beulah joins in to help.

Being the day before taxes are due in the radio era, tax jokes abound, then Teeny visits. She learns a little about Fibbers taste in the gourmet foods that Beulah has been making. Teeny may be more interested in cheating the weighing machine though. The Kingsmen sing, It’s Love Love Love.

Doc Gamble makes it to the dinner prepared for him. He seems impressed, and not in his usual bickering mood. Beulah has done such a good job, she gets teary over a special gift Fibber gives her.
