George is working hard at the office. He keeps being disturbed by a tap dancer in the office upstairs. Building manager, Mel Blanc, goes to take the complaint to Fred Astair. Fred seems to be having trouble with the person who is downstairs singing.

Gracie pops in, and George shares his complaint with her. Gracie talks to her friend Tootsie Bagwell with news that she’s decided to not run after men anymore. Bill Goodwin pops in for a few jokes, then Gracie goes to talk Fred out of making so much noise, but see’s it as Tootsie’s big chance to launch her career in show biz.

Can Gracie get Fred to hire Tootsie sight unseen? And keep him from realizing that George is the one with the office below? To solve the matter, Gracie invites Fred to her house, and lets Fred dance in the room above theirs at home. George has had enough, and goes home to get away from the tap dancing. Can you imagine his surprised to hear the tap dancing that he fled the office to get away from.

Try as she might, Gracie can’t seem to keep the two gents separated. George heads down to the corner cigar shop. The very same one that Fred just went to to practice.

Still trying to relax, George keeps being disturbed by the doorbell, and other tapping noises. Gracie keeps trying to sell Fred on dancing with Tootsie. Of course, eventually the secrets come out, but only after all the jokes have been milked, and George and Fred make up.
