Abbott and Costello – Dorothy Lamour Abbott Mayor Of Sherman Oaks. 440217

Lou congradulates Bud on winning the office of Mayor of Sherman Oaks. They joke about political topics. Then the focus turns to finding a new leading lady for their next film. Hey, what about Ken Niles wife, Verna Felton? She is at least good for a few jokes on her beauty, or lack of it.

After the commercial the search for a leading lady continues. Bud tries to talk Lou into being the stunt man on the film, but gets him a little confused with various plays on words. In the end, Lou gets to use Bud’s words against him though. Connie Haines sings, My Love You Haven’t Gone Away.

After another commercial break, guess who rides in on horseback? Dorothy gets to joke aroung with Bud and Lou as they try to ask her to be their star. She’s busy with her next film with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, Road to Utopia.

She’s willing, so they run through the script. It’s an Arabian film, and you just gotta love those names they pick out. Plenty of puns and jabs at the pop culture of the day. Bud and Lou have to rescue the captured Arabian princess from the evil sultan. Can they do it? Will they be rewarded for their efforts?
Note: In real life, after a brief boxing career Lou really did break into movies as a stunt man.
