With his wife, Muriel, Ernest goes to look at a house. Despite warnings, and urging from the Mexican house servant, Ernest insists on staying on the place. Is there anything to the ghosts, or dangers that were told to be on the land? Strange things begin to happen to the stubborn new tenants.
In monolog, Ernest reflects on the ancient dwellers of the land, old tribes of indians who lived in the cliffs. Where has Muriel gone? Out of nowhere, a man appears, and claims to know where she is, and that he lives there. Can there really be a remnant of cliff dwellers on the remote land?
Others begin to appear, and Ernest needs to come to grips that other dwellers in the land claim to live there. Still, he isn’t any closer to learn what happened to his wife. Has Ernest just been dreaming? He finds Muriel, and more secrets than he counted on being revealed to him as he settles into the land.
