Joseph is working in his carpenter shop, when he is to be summoned before the elders. From Enoch’s behavior in the shop, is there a problem?

The religious leaders lay out the problem of Mary being found with child. They need to make sure that he fully understands the obligations and limitations of a betrothed husband. If he is the father, he needs to take responsibility, otherwise serious punishment could be instore for Mary.

When Joseph has the chance to talk with Mary, he is troubled to know the gossip is true. Why doesn’t she hang her head in shame for what she has done?

Wrestling with the facts as he knows them, Joseph plans to divorce Mary, until a visit from an angel makes it plain what he should do.

Comparing notes, Mary reveals her rown encounter with an angel. What should they do? Carry on as normal, and bring up their son according to the law. They marvel together over prophecies of the predicted king.
A tax census commands they travel to Bethlehem, a matter that Mary agrees to despite being far into her pregnancy. Complications set in when inns are full. The child is born, laid in a manger, and shepherds are told about the birth by angels.
