li>Dinah opens with, Shoo Shoo Baby. She takes a moment to dip into the mailbag for some greetings.

  • Lulu Belle and Scotty sing, Down to the Railroad Tracks.
  • After more greetings from the mailbag are read by Dinah, she announces Fats Waller to sing, Your Feet’s Too Big.
  • Fats follows it up with a jazzy ragtime piano tune.
  • Dinah reads a few mail bag greetings, and oh those crazy nicknames, sometimes pushing the limits of what censors might allow. If only they realized what some of that military jargon means. It might very well make it on todays broadcast TV. Don’t worry, it’s technically clean if you don’t know how to interpret the jargon.
  • Gloria Gee is next and sings, A Wagon of Care.
  • Jerry Colona sings and jokes his way through, The Spell of Your Heart.
  • Abbott and Costello are introduced to recreate their Baseball sketch, Who’s on First. Look out, this is a show for the military, so the word “darned” isn’t used at the end of the sketch.
  • Dinah sings, Mood Indigo. She then leaves the soldiers with a few parting words.

Trivia Alert: Lulu Belle and Scotty were a real life married singing duet who specialized in novelty tunes. Their singing career spanned from the 1930’s into the 1960’s. After leaving music behind them, Lulu Belle went on to a career in politics.

PS: I really enjoyed Fats Waller’s performance in the show. It’s also always great to listen to that classic of Abbott and Costello.
