Using the society section of the newspaper, Abner is confused at the style of wearing sleeveless dresses. Abner keeps getting side tracked by reading war news. The need for the Treasury Department to have incomplete war stamp books filled and returned.

Lum falls in line to talk about the importance of those war stamp books. Now it’s Abner’s turn to get back to the social pages, and confused over the way limousines have the driver sit uncovered, while the passengers are cozy in the back.

Finding what he’s looking for in the society pages, Lum talks about the upper crust, and gets Abner even more confused. Reading about the regal affairs, it makes Lum realize how outclassed the shindigs that Sister Simpson throws are. Can he do better? He thinks he can, and is determined to outshine anything seen in town before.
