Father Knows Best – Thanksgiving Dinner. ep57, 501123

A simple matter like Thanksgiving gets complicated when it involves the Anderson’s. For a play, Kathy hams it up to read her poem she wrote at school. Her poem won a contest, and is to be read over the radio. It doesn’t mean that there isn’t anybody in the family who likes it, other than mom. Bud and Betty go to their teen age engagements, as Kathy finally makes it to the end of the prize winning poem… after much repetition.

With the kids out of the house, mom gets to enjoy a few moments of quiet. Well quietness other than Jim commenting on how quiet, peaceful, and relaxing it is.
As mom and dad listen to the radio, poor little Kathy has stage fright on the mike, and cant read her lines. Jim comments on how it just doesn’t feel like one of his good, old fashioned Thanksgivings. Is it really so different, with this new generation of change? Should they expect to have the kids back in for a holiday meal together?

Imagine their surprise when each of the kids abandon their events to come back home. Who knew a Thanksgiving dinner of hamburger, instead of turkey, could be so good?
