With Squire Skimp involved, stock sales in the rocket company and expedition are booming. Lum and Abner busy themselves in constructing their rocket to Mars. Cedric is on hand to help, and listen to Abner complain. Lum is worried the work being done is too little.
Instead of building, Abner and Cedric have been making signs. Abner has been busy dreaming of their welcome to Mars by the Mars mayor, and receiving the key to the city. They ought to take their best blue serge suits, to look presentable for the welcoming committee.
Expenses mean nothing, since Squire said that he will be treasurer. Just send him all the bills. Lum starts to warm up to Abner’s extravagances in a band and photo opportunities for the rocket, once it lands on Mars. There’s just one detail the gents are overlooking. How will the band instruments get to Mars when there isn’t room for them in the rocket?
