Lux Radio Theater – Talk Of The Town. 430517

Features Carrey Grant, Gene Arthur, and Ronald Coleman. Carrey Grant is on trial, Gene Arthur is his defense lawyer, and Ronald Coleman is the resident legal genius, the dean of the law college.

A factory worker is accused of starting a fire in his plant. He decides his chances are better if he escapes from jail. Carrey Grant, the factory worker, hides out in a hotel, where Ronald also shows up for a room. Our three key players all meet there. As the story unfolds we learn that Carrey Grant’s character only has circumstantial evidence against him. The plant was a safety hazzard, waiting for an accident to happen.

Carrey Grant is the passionate type. Ronald Colman is the cool, legalistic type although not uncaring. Shelley, the innkeeper girl, and Gene Arthur are the mediators who help them to see eye to eye.

Carrey and Ronald become friends, although each have opposite duties to perform to uphold their code of ethics. Still they manage to work together to uncover the real person behind the arson.

It’s a bumpy road, but justice is done in the end.
