The publishing company hasn’t done any greeting card business, but due to an idea of Mousey Gray, the gents have made him a partner in it. Lum and Abner discuss the awkward problem of how to thank someone for a gift, but you just don’t know what it is. How will the card that Lum and Mousey studied up on help?

The topic of the way poets misuse words, or crunch them to make a rhyme fit is discussed. Abner gets confused over the concept of poetic license. Do poets need a license to do that?

Lum isn’t sure, so he phones the county seat. If they need a license, he had better get one. Since the courthouse doesn’t know either, they get connected to various licensing departments. Do they need a marriage license a peddler’s licensor some other kind?
