Everybody has the desire to excel and improve, and any parent wants their children to have a better life than they had. In today’s drama rehearsal, the story begins with Elliot seeing his son, Russel, off to the army, and on his way to Korea. The man to man talk is ended at the train station. We learn that Elliot is a steel worker, and no longer married. He joins his off duty co-workers at the bar where Cathy is working. The lonely pair become a couple as they begin a relationship. However, worries and concerns are pent up inside Elliot and it builds protective walls around him.
Plans for his life, and that of his boy have been set aside as life intrudes. Time passes, Russ comes home from the war, and Elliot wants to resume his plans for his son. Is he going to have to postpone his hopes for Russel’s future? The time away has changed Russ, but Elliot has trouble recognizing those changes. Father and son don’t seem to be able to communicate, and Cathy is in the middle. She may also be in the middle of a love affair with both father and son. Who might she choose? It’s sure to cause waves, but are the walls that Elliot sedt up his protection, or the source of problems?
Communication is the key to shape the future. Not only is there a reconciliation between father and son, but wedding bells for someone’s future.
