Getting started without theme music or opening, Barry starts right off with the voice over description of his day, and chasing after his suspect. After his ride with Jake the elevator operator, he finds danger waiting for him in his office. He learns from the cops a little about their latest John Doe victim. A failed ambush still doesn’t keep Barry from hitting the streets.
A dame, who happened to be hiding in his car identifies the body that was found earlier. Is there something else that she’s after? What is she holding back? A thump on the head from a staged car crash finds the dame missing, but the cops are back to offer some updated progress in the case.
Motive for the killing is turned up. Barry returns his attention to finding that blonde dame, the widow of William Cheyney, and avoid the gunman who had tried taking potshots at him. Which will he find? Maybe both.
The guns are out, but who is the real danger in this picture? In the aftermath, Barry talks to the cops to go over the points of the mystery, and how the killer staged the whole thing.
