Newsreel – America, the War Years 1945.

The year started off with the advancement of allied forces, and desperate defenses of Berlin by the Nazi’s. FDR is again sworn into office, and is determined to win peace. The solution is to fly supply planes to pour resources into the front lines, and send aggressive bombing raids on Tokyo. All the while FDR asks to keep up production of war goods.

As the year advances, heads of allies meet to discuss peace, as the victories on Iwo Jima are foot by foot. Marines and Navy guns pound the island relentlessly. Mac Arthur returns to the Philippines. An unexpected set back comes when FDR dies, and loss is felt around the world. Truman is sworn in, , and the situation in Germany and Italy grow even more desperate.

Finally, Victory in Europe. But its time to get back on the job, after the celebration. Meanwhile, clean up and peace begins to sweep through Germany. The discharge system begins to send happy vets home.
