Captain Canelli gets a homacide call, and goes to the fancy apartment to investigate. It’s a crime custom made for the tabloids. Specialists and experts descend on the crime scene to search for clues. Meanwhile, the uniformed cops are back on the streets, doing what they typically do.
Captain Cannelli offers voiceover to tell about the rarity of murder mystery crimes, and that the killer is usually someone close to the victim, and easy to pick out. The uniformed cops are the call center, but have no information for the media circus that surrounds the story. Enough of the police findings are put together well enough to serve as a press conference, and keep reporters at bay. The case breaks when a Mr Newfield is picked up for questioning. How is he connected to the dead woman? What does he know about it? The cops don’t believe his story. At least not at first.
