Fannie Barber had taken ill, but is recovering well enough with her family pampering her. All the family rally, and come over to ask about their mom… all but Paul, or at least that’s the way Henry sees it. The doctor examines his patient. Everything seems to be normal for her, but the doc is more concerned about Henry.
Talking to Paul privately, the doc tries to get to the bottom of the spell that Fannie had. The more the matter is investigated, there seems to be an emotional link between it, and Paul’s new girl friend. Paul rejects the idea at first. Can it be that his parents want him to get married, but have become to attached to see him leave them?
What do the others in the family think? Is the matter related to Paul and his romantic life? Can his behavior really be the source of the illness? Should he be going after Nicolette instead of Christine? Usually its Paul who makes it a habit of psyco-analyzing people. Now its his siblings who hash the matter over. Paul isn’t unaware of the turmoil that has been stirred uup. Is that why he’s being so grim with everyone?
