Gene talks with Pat about the importance of the upcoming election, and in flashback tells about the drama surrounding an election for sheriff. Todd Dillon was the long time county sheriff, but Miller ran a slick campaign to win the office for himself. Getting Gene’s help, Todd takes him to go to check on some fishy happenings out on the range. There’s a lot of work to do, and fast, if Gene hopes to clear up the mystery he stumbled into. The scandal is enough to topple the dishonest Miller, and put Todd back in office.
